Biography

Stacy Merida is an Assistant Professor of Music Business in the Recording Industry Department at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) where she also serves as the Faculty Advisor to Match Records, the student run record label. Stacy Merida is an Assistant Professor of Music Business in the Recording Industry Department at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) where she also serves as the Faculty Advisor to Match Records, the student run record label. Stacy joined MTSU's Recording Industry department in 2012 as a full-time Lecturer.

Prior to joining MTSU, she was the President and owner of The MERIDA Group, a marketing and business consulting firm based in Brentwood, TN. Her corporate clients included SONY Music Entertainment, BET, Integrity Music, and Warner Bros. Records. Stacy has also served as the music coordinator for BET's Sunday Best competition series, talent coordinator for The Dove Awards, script assistant for CMA Fest, and coordinating producer for TV One. She was successful in securing client performance on the much publicized 50th Annual Grammy Awards Show as well as national appearances for other clients on ABC's The View, the CBS Morning Show, CNN, and ABC News.

Stacy previously served as Vice President of Marketing for SONY Music Entertainment in New York where she presided over the marketing campaigns for Tye Tribbett, Kim Burrell, William Murphy, Anointed, and most notably Mary Mary, the Grammy, Stellar, Dove, and American Music Awards winning and platinum selling artist. She planned national CD listening parties in major venues across the country and worked with the Kraft Foods Campaign to promote artist product and corporate brands to the general public.

Prior to joining SONY, Stacy served as General Manager for CeCe Winans' CW Wellspring Entertainment in Brentwood, TN for three years. She also served as the A&R executive on several artist projects for CeCe Winans, Vicki Yohe, Mom Winans, and the Born Again Church Choir. Prior to Wellspring, Stacy traveled between Nashville and New York for five years as the Director of CBA Marketing and Sales for Benson Label Group, a division of Zomba Music Group/Jive Records. Benson/Verity is where Stacy had the opportunity to work with internationally recognized artists Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, Richard Smallwood, and countless others.

Prior to Benson, Stacy worked for Integrity Music in Mobile, Alabama for five years. She served in various capacities including: Creative Operations/A&R Coordinator, Glorious Music Coordinator, International Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant for the Fulfillment Department. It was at Integrity that Stacy signed Bishop T.D. Jakes to his first recording contract and was the project coordinator for the recording of "Woman, Thou Art Loosed" at the New Orleans Superdome.

This native of Frankville, Alabama is a 1989 graduate of Stillman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and minor in Accounting, a 1993 graduate of the University of Mobile with a Master of Business Administration degree, and a 2016 graduate from Jackson State Univeristy with the Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education.

Stacy is very active with various professional, civic, and charitable organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Society for Ethnomusicology, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association, Women in Higher Education TN, and the Gospel Music Association. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Quaver Foundation for Advancing Music Education and Women in Film and Television Nashville where she also serves as Treasurer.
