Canvas
The Canvas Project
MTSU is enhancing its digital learning infrastructure by replacing D2L Brightspace with the state-of-the-art Canvas learning management system (LMS). Canvas will enable MTSU faculty to deliver effective and engaging instruction within a student- and faculty-friendly environment. During the 2025-26 academic year, we will transition all academic courses, resources, and support systems from D2L Brightspace to Canvas.
Faculty will have access to an extensive range of training resources and support to build their Canvas expertise. Canvas will also provide faculty and staff with improved access to high-quality, real-time course data, intuitive navigation, and powerful reporting capabilities, fostering a more dynamic and responsive academic environment.
This change represents the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation, ensuring MTSU courses are efficient, user-friendly, and effective. Canvas will host all MTSU courses beginning Summer 2026.
Canvas LMS Transition Email Updates
As part of our commitment to transparency and communication regarding the Canvas LMS transition, we have archived all outgoing correspondence that Dr. Brian Hinote has shared with faculty about this project.
