Application Packet

This is the application packet for the Merit Badge University to be held at Middle Tennessee State University on February 28, 2026. Class space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Most classes close within a couple of weeks. Campus offices and services close due to the MTSU Holiday Schedule, which is why we must set strict deadlines and our instructors must prepare for this event and a new semester.

Important Information

• The Waiver / Release form is required for all scouts and must be mailed in with payment. 
  
• PLEASE, register all scouts at the same time! You can add scouts by clicking the ADD SCOUT button.
  
• DO NOT REGISTER MORE SCOUTS THAN THERE ARE SPOTS AVAILABLE! If you do, your registration will be deleted.
  
• Each troop must register at least two adults who will attend all day to meet BSA’s two-deep policy requirement. As in the past, an adult program will be provided if we get a Scouting Volunteer to run the program. We also have Red Cross Certification and the Boy Scout Leader Position Specific training classes. You may also volunteer to sit in on a Merit Badge Class and get a free lunch!
  
• Registration will take place from 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM (Central Time) at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) building. View a campus map.
  
• Upon checking in at MBU, you will be asked for a cell number for one leader to be used in case of an emergency.
  
• For adults, we will offer a Red Cross certification class – Red Cross 1: Standard First Aid & Adult CPR. There is no additional fee this year for Red Cross materials and certification, and it is still a two-year certification. These are not merit badges.
  
• Scouts must get the appropriate merit badge book, read it in ADVANCE, and bring it and all prerequisite materials/projects to MBU.
  
• Uniform for everyone will be “the Field Uniform” as defined by your Unit Committee.
  
• A $20 (early-bird fee) application fee for each Scout AND adult must accompany your application On or BEFORE Dec1st. Any checks postmarked after Dec 1st must be $35 for each Scout and leader. This covers lunch, a patch, and general administrative costs. You will need to send check (made out to “MTSU MBU“) to:

• By registering, UNIT LEADERS AND PARENTS certify that all scouts are eligible (1st Class or 13 years old) and approved to take the merit badge/class requested AND the prerequisite requirements have been completed (where necessary).
