Biology, Biology 6-12 Teacher Licensure Concentration, B.S.

The Biology 6-12 Teacher Licensure Concentration is for students who want to use their degree in biology to teach at the middle or high-school level. In addition to core biology courses, students take a variety of organismal biology classes and complete a secondary education minor tailored to teaching science (MTeach).

The MTeach minor provides students with practical training in using research-based teaching strategies that have been shown effective in the secondary (6-12) classroom. Graduates are therefore equipped with both the content knowledge and teaching practices to be effective teachers in private or public schools.

This concentration can also be used to pursue the other career paths available to biology majors.
