M.F.A. in Film and Television Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI):
The film and television industry is constantly evolving, and the arrival of AI has created both challenges and opportunities for those seeking leadership roles in the industry. It is clear the industry is shifting to new models as the technology evolves. These major shifts require us to engage with technology and learn how it can both improve and harm productions
Looking ahead, we anticipate that while AI will enable productions to more efficiently achieve quality technical work, the productions of tomorrow will become even more reliant on human creativity in storytelling.
In the M.F.A. in Film and Television, we keep an eye on technological and systemic impacts of AI on the industry, while maintaining a pipeline for the development of rigorously trained creative talent. The MTSU College of Graduate Studies is actively supporting the integration of AI competency into its graduate curricula, and is providing resources to the M.F.A. to bolster these efforts.
