World Languages and Cultures, M.A.T.

The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in World Languages (non-licensure track) is a 30-credit-hour program designed to fit the schedules and professional goals of working adults while also supporting recent graduates who want to deepen their language proficiency. With 18 credit hours of graduate-level language coursework, students build advanced skills in language, culture, and communication. This coursework aligns with employment qualification standards, preparing graduates to teach dual enrollment courses, work in community colleges, or serve as adjunct instructors at four-year institutions, thereby expanding their professional opportunities.

In addition to advanced language study, students can tailor their degree through flexible pathways. They may choose to pursue a second language or follow an applied track that integrates language expertise with fields such as curriculum design, digital media, project management, and other professionally relevant areas. This versatility prepares graduates for a wide range of careers, including private and corporate education, instructional design, publishing, nonprofit and NGO work, and other multilingual or globally oriented professional contexts in addition to the traditional public education.
