Quality Enhancement Plan

Career Readiness as MTSU’s New Quality Enhancement Plan

Why Career Readiness Matters.

Focusing on initiatives that connect classroom learning to real-world professional experiences will help students succeed both during and after graduation. The institution’s mission is to prepare students for their careers, emphasizing career readiness throughout the campus and curriculum.

What is Career Readiness?

Career readiness helps graduates develop key competencies for success in the workplace. Today’s students seek career preparation that aligns their passions with coursework. A student-centered approach, focusing on values, skills, curriculum, and career opportunities, can improve retention.

Career readiness helps students to:

  • Improve critical thinking skills
  • Ability to construct and work in teams
  • Elevated professional skills
  • Career and personal growth
  • Sharpen communication skills

What is a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)?

MTSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is an essential component of University accreditation. Through the intentional alignment of the QEP with the University’s mission and strategic plan, students develop the skills, values, and experiences necessary to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. MTSU has a strong and successful record of establishing and implementing Quality Enhancement Plans that support our students and faculty. Through the EXL and MT Engage QEP initiatives, we empower learners to thrive academically and beyond. With the QEP as our guide, we continually identify opportunities to enhance the student experience, driving innovation and excellence in higher education at MTSU.

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is an integral component of the SACSCOC reaffirmation and accreditation process.

IT IS A MINDSET: It reflects and affirms MTSU’s commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness through continuous improvement and a growth mindset.

IT IS A STRATEGIC PLAN: It is a documented roadmap focusing on an issue that MTSU considers important for improving student learning and success.

IT IS A PROJECT: It centers around activities supported by the entire MTSU campus community that will improve student learning and success.
