Jeffrey Izzo joined the Department of Recording Industry this year as Assistant Professor, teaching courses in the music business curriculum. During his 20 years as an entertainment and media attorney, Mr. Izzo has represented songwriters, performers, independent record companies, authors, and filmmakers, and has worked as in-house counsel for independent film production companies and multi-media organizations. He also has taught entertainment law at New England School of Law, and music business at the University of Memphis and Minnesota State University Moorhead, and has published articles on copyright, film distribution, and other entertainment industry issues. He earned his Juris Doctor at Seattle University School of Law.

In addition to his comprehensive experience as a lawyer, Mr. Izzo is an accomplished composer, lyricist, vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and bass player. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Berklee School of Music, where he studied under the late Jeronimas Kacinskas, and a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Edinburgh, where he studied with renowned British composer Nigel Osborne. Mr. Izzo has composed everything from pop songs and jingles to symphonic, chamber and choral works, but his passion remains music for the theater. He has written extensively for the stage, including the book, music and lyrics to Rapunzel's Lament (an adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale), an original score for the Minnesota State University Moorhead spring 2013 production of Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, and is currently at work on the score and lyrics for a full-length book musical slated to enter workshop development later this year.
