RAIDERS EARN USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM HONORS

photoNEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the NCAA Division I All-Academic teams and individuals for the 2014 cross country season and both Middle Tennessee teams earned the distinction.

A total of 225 women's programs and 179 men's programs earned All-Academic team honors. The Blue Raider women's squad boasted a 3.33 GPA, while the men earned a 3.13 GPA.

In addition to Middle Tennessee, three men's teams from Conference USA and five women's teams earned All-Academic team accolades.

Hillary Rono was the lone Blue Raider to be an USTFCCCA All-Academic individual and was one of 91 men who earned the distinction. In order to qualify, Rono had to compile at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and finish in the top 10 percent at the NCAA South Regional.

Men: Middle Tennessee (3.13), Florida Atlantic (3.24), North Texas (3.29), WKU (3.39)
Women: Middle Tennessee (3.33), Florida Atlantic (3.20), Rice (3.68), North Texas (3.22), Southern Miss (3.71), WKU (3.45)
