photoIRVING, Texas - Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe was named to the Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Academic team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Rowe became the fifth player in Middle Tennessee history to earn Capital One Academic All-America distinction last month with her second team selection. She is the first MT women's basketball player to garner C-USA All-Academic accolades.

The Lexington, Ky., native owns a 3.74 GPA as a physics major with a minor in business administration and engineering. Once Rowe completes her Bachelor's degree, she intends to pursue graduate school for mechanical engineering.

Each honoree is making their first appearance on the All-Academic team. In order to be eligible for the distinction, nominees must hold a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve for their team and be of sophomore academic standing.

Rowe has already broken 13 school records, including the 26-year-old all-time scoring record she set Jan. 25. She is the only Blue Raider to have more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Currently, she ranks second in C-USA in scoring (21.2) and rebounding (11.6). Rowe also appears among the NCAA Top 25 in four different categories: 22 double-doubles (sixth), 11.5 rebounds (11th), 617 total points (19th) and 21.3 points per game (25th).

The 22nd ranked Blue Raiders, who won the C-USA regular season title last week, close out the league schedule with game at Tulane on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in New Orleans.
