Research Awards

The faculty of Middle Tennessee State University fulfill the higher education mission with excellence across all disciplines represented on campus through their research, instruction, and service.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is launching a new program to recognize some of the exemplary research, creative activity, and public service by our faculty each year.  We plan to make awards in each of three categories: Research, Creative Activity, and Service to Tennessee.

In keeping with MTSU’s legacy of undergraduate research and experiential learning, we solicited prototype trophies for these three categories from students enrolled in Associate Professor Michael Baggarly’s Sculpture 4, 5, & 6 class during 2017/18.  Below are short video presentations for each of the nine resulting trophy designs, which feature 360o view of the prototypes and commentary from the artists about their inspiration, methods, and vision for the finished piece.

Viewers are invited to evaluate each prototype on two attributes: 1) the degree to which you like or dislike the prototype on a scale of 1 to 5, and 2) which of the three award categories, Research, Creative Activity, or Service of Tennessee, you think that each trophy would best represent.  Also, please offer any comments or ask any questions you may have about the trophies or recognition program using the comments/feedback text box.

Thank you.
