The University College (UC) requested TAF funding in 2013 to convert KOM 126 into a second lab/classroom for READ 1000. The proposal (#1404) was approved, and the conversion took place equipping the room with 20 work stations and tablets. Currently, the READ 1000 population is such that this classroom is almost utilized solely for sections of this class. However, in the spring class enrollment is much lighter, freeing the classroom to be utilized by other classes. The UC would like to offer additional prescribed course mathematics sections in the classroom in the spring, but the room needs to be equipped with additional necessities to meet instructional strategies offered in the math courses. Due to the majority of the prior proposal including construction costs, it prohibited us from including a master classroom configuration in the $100,000 maximum guidelines. The proposal is asking for a standard master classroom configuration, an additional IPad for the instructor’s station, and software which will allow the instructor to control the student IPads in the classroom. The University College is asking for an upgrade in KOM120 master classroom technology. This classroom is one of the first master classrooms on campus and is in need of equipment upgrades as well as damaged walls and flooring. This classroom is a heavily used room every day for prescribed (K) courses.
