What does Upward Bound provide?
Program Structure
The Upward Bound program consists of two components: the Academic Year and a Summer Academy. Students are required to attend both components as participants in the Upward Bound program.
The Academic Year component includes:
- Saturday Enrichment once a month either virtually or at MTSU (Saturday Enrichment will be held between September and May)
- Leadership development
- Student/Parent Information Workshops
- Individual and Group Advising
- Financial literacy workshops
The Summer Academy includes:
- Intensive five-week academic courses
- Non-residential and residential opportunities (residential experience involves students staying in the dorms on the campus of MTSU for 2 weeks)
- Cultural field trip during the final (sixth) week of the summer component
