Andrea Hall is an assistant professor of public relations at Middle Tennessee State University. She teaches writing, design, and strategic communication courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research currently focuses on media coverage of and attitudes toward women in politics, gender presentation and brand partnerships in sports, and performative parenthood online. As a life-long pop culture enthusiast, Andrea enjoys opportunities to combine her love of celebrities with her interest in gender representation in the media.

In addition to her research work, Andrea is the co-host of the forthcoming Pink State podcast, which features interviews with women involved in the political world from journalists to politicians and aims to inspire women and girls to see themselves as politicians.

Prior to teaching, Andrea was a journalist for a community paper, a graphic designer for a city/regional magazine and a marketing specialist in higher education. She brings her experience from the journalism and PR sides of communication to her classroom to help students learn the importance of both roles in creating content, similarities in needed skills, and how to these roles work in together.

An East Tennessee native, Andrea is glad to back in her home state closer to family and friends after more than a decade away. When she isn't teaching, she enjoys cooking, sewing and watching reality TV.
