Biography
An accomplished writer, producer, and social strategist, Carla returned to the faculty in Media Arts and Interactive Media at Middle Tennessee State University in January 2018. Read More »An accomplished writer, producer, and social strategist, Carla returned to the faculty in Media Arts and Interactive Media at Middle Tennessee State University in January 2018. In addition to teaching, Carla is co-founder of Craft Content Nashville and Nashville Content Week and is a copy editor for American Songwriter magazine. She also consults as a social media and content strategist with MojoMediaPros, a marketing agency based in Nashville.
Previously, Carla was a reporter, copy editor, and webcast producer for the Beaver County Times, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA; a writer, editor, and network producer for Rivals.com and Yahoo! Sports; and content strategist for a Nashville interactive agency. She served for 10 years as communications director for a national non-profit organization, where she also served as editor for the organization's print magazine and weekly interactive publication. She also has served various strategic roles in communications agencies, serving clients including Simon & Schuster, Johnson & Johnson, Thorntons, and several healthcare startups.
Outside of teaching, Carla co-hosts a college football podcast (which will begin its 11th season in August 2022), and enjoys choral singing, playing the piano, and being a mom to her 8-month-old daughter, Ellie.
