Biography

Professor Gómez is a Colombian native. Prior to MTSU, he worked for over 14 years for Mattel/Fisher-Price as a producer and director of animated cartoons for children, corporate videos, and commercials. Professor Gómez is a Colombian native. Prior to MTSU, he worked for over 14 years for Mattel/Fisher-Price as a producer and director of animated cartoons for children, corporate videos, and commercials. Rodrigo is passionate about the creative process of animation and the search for new stories to create innovative visuals. He enjoys working with students on exploring their most creative ideas while striving for the highest level of quality. He is author of the children's book Milly and Roots, The Headscarf https://www.millyandroots.com/, and he is producer of a mini web series on autism titled "Percy Talks" https://www.percytalks.com/ . Prof. Gomez is the current advisor of the MTSU VR-AR  Student Club

Rodrigo holds a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the National University of Colombia, and a master's degree in Computer Animation from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.  He has taught in multiple colleges in his native Colombia and the USA. He is married with two children, and he is also a not so serious soccer fan.

Research / Scholarly Activity

Added to his animation work, professor Gómez dedicates time to the exploration of new creative expressions of art and animation and combines them with digital technologies such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and 3D printing.

 

Creative Activity

Professor Gómez likes to paint large formats of acrilic on canvas. He also enjoys working on sculpture.
