The Kiyoshi Kawahito scholarships have been made possible through a generous endowment by MTSU professor emeritus Dr. Kiyoshi Kawahito and his wife Mrs. Erna Kawahito

In an effort to encourage students to continue their Japanese language study at MTSU, the Japanese Program in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures (WLLC) will offer: 

(a) four scholarships of up to $600 each for a semester or year exchange study abroad or intensive summer study abroad to Japan, and

(b) four scholarships for $600 each for tuition fee assistance toward one Japanese (JAPN) course.

Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are due by February 15, 2024.

All students registered in Japanese courses in fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters are eligible to apply. The scholarships will be announced in April 2024.
