Operations Research, M.P.S. courses designed to give students real-life opportunities

Dr. Matthew Duncan says the courses in the MPS Operations Research concentration help provide students with real-life opportunities. For example, PRST 6320 covers the study and application of using surveys appropriate to professional studies. The course provides an introduction to surveys and how they are used, as well as practical exposure to previously used surveys.

As many survey designs are ill-constructed and thus not valid, it is important to be able to recognize what factors and strategic choices ensure validity. The course will also provide opportunities to do so by critiquing survey designs and actually developing and implementing surveys, which includes managing, analyzing, and disseminating survey results.
