Restore a Previous Version

WordPress automatically saves revisions of pages and posts as changes are made. If content is accidentally removed or updated incorrectly, you may be able to restore a previous version.

Use this job aid to view and restore saved revisions.

Before You Begin

  • Confirm you are restoring the correct page.
  • Review available revisions carefully before restoring content.
  • Understand that restoring a revision will replace the current content.

Steps

Open the Page

  1. Log in to WordPress.
  2. Select Pages from the left navigation menu.
  3. Open the page you want to restore.

Open Revisions

  1. Open the Page settings panel.
  2. Locate the Revisions section.
  3. Select the revisions link.

Review Available Revisions

  1. Use the revision slider to compare versions.
  2. Review the content changes.
  3. Locate the version you want to restore.

Restore the Revision

  1. Select Restore This Revision.
  2. Confirm the page displays the expected content.

Save the Page

  1. Review the restored content.
  2. Click Update or Save to save your changes.
