Master Classroom

The Department proposes to update two standard classrooms - PH 200 and 219 - We currently represent 7 classrooms in PH and only 3 have a master technology station. The remaining 4 classrooms are technology carts that are very bulky and barely fit in the aisle between the desks. The cart has to be rolled to the back of the classroom and lock to the wall after each class. The power and Ethernet cords continually get rolled over which causes network issues (I am constantly called to these classrooms during class time to solve these issues) The first day of classes there was already a work order out to fix the network plug on the cart in PH 219. It was broken because the cord had been ripped out when someone rolled the cart over the cords. The upgrade is necessary for reliable and effective instruction. This upgrade will benefit approximately 1500 from Sociology, Anthropology, History, and English in general education and upper division courses. The current carts will be returned to be used in other locations on campus. We fully understand that there will be no new furniture, new floors, new ceilings, ect. We are only asking for permanent master technology stations to be added to the existing space.
