This is a joint proposal between the School of Journalism and Department of Recording Industry. This proposal facilitates the repurposing of rooms 150 and 130 into teaching spaces for Journalism and Recording Industry. This is necessary due to the construction of the Baldwin Gallery which is displacing teaching spaces currently used by Journalism and Recording Industry. Construction of the gallery was made possible by a generous third party donation. Comm 150 is currently used by Electronic Media Communications and is being converted to a computer lab for Journalism. Comm 130 is currently office space that will be converted into a computer lab for Recording Industry. This proposal includes presentation technology, furniture, electrical, data, and construction. This project will benefit all students majoring in Journalism (750 majors), Recording Industry (1400 majors) and the Masters of Fine Arts Program (36 students). In a given semester the two rooms will accommodate approximately 20 classes of 16-20 students. In addition, the labs will be used evenings and weekends by students working on class projects.
