The Ellington Human Sciences Annex is being razed and will no longer be available to the department. In order to accommodate student needs, accreditations, and ADA accessibility the Ellington Human Sciences building requires rezoning of existing spaces (change of function) and additional, current technology. For EHS 113, the master classroom needs to be updated to the current standard classroom configuration due to the age of equipment and better use of classroom space to assist with interactive learning experiences. EHS 110 needs to be adapted as a computer lab to provide disabled students access. The current lab is on the second floor without benefit of an elevator. EHS 200 needs nine additional computer stations in order to meet scheduling needs, square footage allowances and provide an additional learning space with technology. Approximately 400 NFS and FCS majors plus additional non majors would benefit. Both NFS and FCS students require hands-on, interactive spaces with current technology due to expectations and demands of their corresponding professions. Both curricula are heavily immersed in technology as a teaching/learning tool. Accreditation standards for the Human Sciences Department as a whole and for specific programs require facilities to be well equipped and promote learning of the current generation via technology.
