The Department of Health & Human Performance (HHP) proposes to update one standard classroom - Murphy Center (MC) 103. HHP currently maintains 10 classrooms/teaching spaces in MC of which 4 are Master Classrooms, 3 have Nomad Carts, and 3 have limited/no technology. This classroom currently has a Nomad cart that is very bulky, requires that desks be pushed back significantly in the room and blocks the view of the seats directly behind the cart for 2-3 rows. The power and Ethernet cords continually get rolled over when moving the Nomad cart which consistently causes power and network issues (the department continually enters work orders to deal with these issues). The upgrade to a standard Master Classroom configuration in this room is necessary for reliable and effective instruction. This upgrade will benefit HHP’s 1,200 undergraduate majors, 100 MS students, and 40 PhD students in various degree programs in HHP as well as over 850 students enrolled in HLTH 1500 (a general studies course) and other departments that utilize the room. The current Nomad cart will be available for use in other locations.
