FIRE: FIRE will obtain a forensic laboratory in Wiser Patten (currently being renovated) in Fall 2016. Needed equipment and materials are outside of the cost of the renovation, and nothing exists for forensic courses. This proposal is to purchase equipment to prepare bones for student interaction and storage areas for sensitive skeletal cases. Anthropometric instruments, computers, articulated and disarticulated skeletons and teaching casts will be used to enhance existing forensic courses (Forensic Anthropology 3650 and Forensic Sciences 3710). Technical equipment (microscopic and photographic), furnishings and teaching aids such as these are essential for forensic anthropology courses. This space will be used for class projects (ANTH 3650) as well as courses in the new forensic anthropology minor (Osteology, Trauma). Additionally, when not used for teaching, students can schedule access to this laboratory for their own research projects. Theatre: The Audio console in Tucker Theatre is severely outdated to the point it must be replaced in order to continue to run the audio systems for the RIM and theatre programs.
