The School of Agribusiness and Agriscience serves over 500 students working towards careers in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Plant and Soil Science, and Agricultural Education. Enrollment has significantly increased since 2008 and many of our key instructional technology tools are outdated or non-functioning. Virtually all students in our program will benefit from our proposed updates. The Meats Laboratory equipment has not been updated in 20+ years and most are no longer serviceable. Software for environmental regulation in the Horticulture Center greenhouses is from the 1990's and no longer serviceable. The greenhouse temperature sensors need replacing. We still use mechanical balances, which most public high schools have long since replaced with digital scales. A diurnal plant growth chamber is needed technology to update and improve courses. This computerized system provides current technology for plant growth laboratories. Finally, in support of cutting edge drone based remote sensing of agricultural crops, we need a Tetracam Mini MCA-12 camera and incident light sensor. ABAS has needed to borrow a camera to prove the technological concept and allow opportunities to students to fly and learn from this technology. Acquisition of this camera and sensor will secure MTSU as the national leader in the utilization and training of students in this technology. Courses using these technologies and equipment include ABAS 1610, 2500, 3810, 3850, 4820, 3490, 3540, 4860, 3340, 3350, 3370, 3660, 4300, 4620, and 4670.
