This project will update and modernize room 180 and room 149 in the John Bragg College of Mass Communication building. These rooms provide teaching and lab space for Recording Industry students studying Music Business and Audio Production. The updates for Comm 180 are to update the presentation capability in the room and renovate the room which has not been done since the building was built in 1991. The presentation technology and physical space is currently in poor condition. This project also includes 20 Macintosh laptop computers and a storage cabinet for use in room 149 and other rooms throughout the college. Recording Industry does not have a computer lab for music business students which is badly needed for courses such as Publishing Administration and New Media for the Music Business. There is no space in the Mass Comm building to build such a lab. The laptop solution allows the classroom to be easily converted to a computer lab or traditional lecture space as needed. The Department of Recording Industry has approximately 1200 majors. In the Spring of 2015 these two spaces facilitated 21 classes and approximately 540 students.
