CB&HS serves over 5000 students in classroom education, training and research. The MTSU population reaps benefits with over 5000 additional students taking Psychology (including General Psychology) and H&HP activity courses. CB&HS benefits the university with maintaining its Carnegie classification (38/100 required PhD graduates per five years from H&HP). State funding uses a high multiplier for funding the large number of master’s students from H&HP and Psychology. This current request, tied to maintaining all aspects of education, includes funding for: patient/health training related equipment (Nursing), psychological assessment, EEG upgrades, advanced statistical software (Psychology), “Therapeutic Exercise/Rehabilitation” for Fitness Assessment and Training, activity course equipment(H&HP) and a finish to the renovation/equipping of foods sciences lab to add a commercial demonstration/education component. DSE makes it possible to provide students of CB&HS, with educational and hands-on experiences essential for professional preparation necessary to meet the missions of the College and MTSU. National experts have identified the health disciplines as having a critical need for new people, with hands-on experiences/training/research. Enrollment/usage per academic year: Activity(H&HP) undergraduate 1500+ per year, upper division research and applied research courses (EXSC 4000,4010,4260,psych 3070,3990,4080) 400+; graduate courses, graduate research, theses and dissertations (H&HP and Psych) 200+. Human Sciences; NFS 3200, 4100, 4220 and 4240 205+ students. For Human Sciences it is critical for students and accreditation that these courses provide the most current educational opportunities. For Nursing, a signature MTSU programs, roughly 40% of their students (130) will benefit through use of the simulation materials in three different courses.
