Master Classroom

The department proposes to update a standard classroom – PH 220. We currently represent 7 classrooms in PH and only 5 have a master technology station. The remaining 2 classrooms are using technology carts that are very bulky and barely fit in the aisle between the desks. One of these two classrooms had issues with its cart and it did not work the entire last two weeks of classes. The cart has to be rolled to the back of the classroom after each class. The power and Ethernet cords constantly get rolled over which causes constant network issues (we do not get wireless internet in this building, even though they just added all the wireless boxes). The upgrade is necessary for reliable and effective instruction. This upgrade will benefit approximately 1500 students from Sociology, Anthropology, History, English, Communications, Social Work, etc. in general education and upper division courses. The current cart will be returned to be used in other locations on campus. We fully understand that there will be no new floors or new ceilings. We are only asking for permanent master technology stations, new student tables, paint, and window shades to be added to the existing space.
