The University Center wants to install and activate internet data ports for student use in the Keathley University Center. This project will allow students to connect to the internet when using the meeting rooms and the lounge on the second floor. First, we will activate already existing data ports in the ten meeting rooms and in the KUC Theater. This will allow student groups to use the internet during meetings, conferences, and presentations. Next, we will install eight data jacks in the second floor lounge of the KUC. This will allow internet access to any individual students and for our comminuting students who frequent the lounge. I believe everyone understands the resources and capabilities the internet has to offer for learning and research. The internet is an essential tool for college students, and we want to offer that access. The students who could directly and indirectly benefit would be any student possessing a computer who uses or vistis the University Center. We are collaborating with OIT on this project. I have talked with Greg Schaffer, and he has written the cost estimate.
