The James E. Walker Library at MTSU is the intellectual center for MTSU students and is a reflection of the University's commitment to education and research. Last year the Library checked out our 68 student laptops over 18,000 times. We are proposing to replace 15 of these student laptops which by replacement time will be out of warranty. We are requesting replacement of twelve aged and out of warranty machines for our Digital Media Studio area. The DMS is a specialized area dedicated to collaborative multimedia project work, student E-portfolio development (supporting the MT Engage program), and design software. Four of the PCs are for our presentation/practice rooms and eight are for the lab area. All of these machines need powerful graphics capabilities. The eight stations for the lab area we wish to equip with 3D capable video cards and monitors with 2 sets of 3D vision glasses per station, thus allowing collaborative development of 3D multimedia, CAD-CAM, scientific visualization, and other media projects.
