MTSU Anthropology, History, and Public History are embarking on a shared vision for interdisciplinary historic preservation and heritage management education. New shared laboratory space in Wiser-Patten 111 includes a student computer workroom to be used for GIS applications, museum display development and design, archaeological analysis and data recording, curation, and the coursework for these foundational skills. This new center will serve over 150 undergraduate and graduate students each semester from the combined enrollments in archaeological and historic field schools, archaeological and historic preservation laboratory courses, undergraduate research / URECA, and master's theses. A master classroom is included in the renovation of our new space, and we request 14 student computer workstations, an iMac design center, two laptop workstations to be used portably between the computer lab and collections in the curation lab of WP111, an all-in-one printer for on-site small printing needs including printing of curatorial barcode stickers, PastPerfect curation software site license, and barcode scanners for PastPerfect collections management. In addition, Anthropology will be relocating a 48" HP large-format printer (plotter) to this space, and an iPad cart with 12 iPads, both for co-departmental use. The iPad cart requires a MacBook Pro "parent" computer to link the iPads for group work and device maintenance and updates.
