We are requesting the installation of one ensemble-size practice room (Wenger V-Room) with state-of-the art virtual acoustic technology adjacent to Saunders Fine Arts 117 and 115. Wenger V-Rooms are modular, drop-in, self-contained, and relocatable. The virtual acoustical technology includes nine different acoustical environments with recording technology so that students may immediately hear results. Such rooms are commonly used for teaching at prominent schools nationally. Our schedule and limited number of rooms has made it very difficult to find sonically acceptable spaces for chamber ensembles and jazz combos to rehearse. We are asking that this room be equipped with one Steinway upright, 5 musician’s chairs and 5 music stands Access to the new HVAC that is being installed this summer may be required. Additionally, we are requesting the site-license for Finale & Sibelius, music notation softwares, be updated for our music computer lab to the most recent versions (our current version of Finale is 5 years old) and also the 4 remaining Sousaphones needed by the Band of Blue should Liberal Arts be awarded the 9 Sousaphones they are requesting.
