CBHS serves 5000+ students in classroom education, training and research with an additional 5000+ university students taking Psychology and H&HP activity courses. Our proposal, to better serve this diverse population, is a combination request. CBHS benefits the university with state funding by maintaining its Carnegie classification (45/100 of the required PhD graduates per five years graduate from H&HP) and there is also a high multiplier for funding from the college’s large number of master’s students. Our request, tied to maintaining all aspects of education, includes: health training equipment (Nursing), psychological assessment, statistical package software, EEG related equipment and eye tracking equipment (Psychology), assessment, training and activity equipment (H&HP), updating the existing food science laboratory, and funding updating of equipment from Textiles and Design in HumSci. DSE makes it possible to provide CBHS students with educational, hands-on experiences essential for professional preparation to meet the missions of the College, MTSU and to meet needs of the state of Tennessee. Health disciplines have been identified as having a critical need for new professionals, with hands-on experiences/training/research. Enrollment/usage per academic year: Activity (H&HP) undergraduate 1500+ per year, psych undergraduate 300+; graduate courses, graduate research, theses and dissertations (H&HP and Psych) 200+. Human Sciences; NFS and TXMD 350+ students. For Human Sciences it is critical for students and for accreditation that these courses provide the most current technologies. Nursing, a signature program at MTSU, utilizes the equipment every semester and provides hands on experience to 100% (640) of their students across multiple courses.
