The project is to upgrade one of the most used classroom on the MTSU campus, LRC 221. This classroom is used by four of the six colleges and holds courses from Astronomy to American History. Many of the classes using this room are in the General Studies curriculum. Each semester thousands of students, from every part of the university, take classes in this room. This room has not been renovated nor had its technology upgraded since 2005. The old technology in this room makes it hard to teach in and difficult to learn in this room. The projector is not bright enough for the size of the room and it has very low resolution for images. The screen is extremely difficult to see from some of the seats within the room. The control system in place uses the older analog inputs, making it less reliable. In fact, the control system failed three different times in the Fall of 2016 causing a loss of usability for about three weeks during the semester. The audio system also had repeated issues during the semester. The seating and lighting are adequate because of the 2005 renovation. We request funds to update the system to have dual projectors, a digital controller, and audio system in the room.
