The School of Music is requesting upgrades to the Wright Music Building Music Hall classroom. The current master classroom cart is an old (2010) custom built, wooden, over-weighted, carpeted monstrosity that is very difficult to maneuver and has locks that were never secure and are almost all broken. It has a ragged snake connection and small wheels that when coupled with its size makes it very difficult for our professors and presenters to maneuver out onto stage. The microphones, computer and equipment in the cabinet are not protected from theft. The classroom needs a free-wheeling metal, securable cart with upgraded computer, a small manageable USB document camera and more modern connections for laptops, iPod and cell phones. In addition, we are requesting a stationary pan-head camera mounted to the back of the hall for live-streaming student and faculty lectures or recitals, which will aid in student learning. Coupled with the camera we are requesting a fixed monitor in the lobby outside the music hall for students to monitor stage activity and to keep students informed of required, upcoming events through digital signage.
