This is a short proposal. The MTSU Debate Team is housed in the Department of Communication Studies and Organizational Communication in Liberal Arts. We have a VERY modest budget to cover, travel, and competitions, on campus events, fees, and equipment. It is not feasible to replace laptops with our budget. The laptops we currently use were purchased before I was hired seven years ago. Some are over fifteen years old. Laptops are critical to competition. Debaters must use them to gather data and evidence at tournaments before the rounds they compete in. We traditionally have at risk students who cannot afford their own laptops and the team tries to provide them for debate weekends. This modest request is to replace our two oldest laptops with modern and faster ones. Thank you for your consideration. Patrick G. Richey, Ph.D.
