The School of Agribusiness and Agriscience requests funding for an automated labeling and digital dating system. This equipment will help prepare students for the technologically advanced fields of dairy processing and fermentation science. The system will be added to the existing bottling system on campus, used for milk products sold on campus and elsewhere. With the addition of this system, we will have the capability to bottle fermented beverages such as kombucha and drinkable yogurt. We are also requesting the Gallery Plus “Beermaster”; an automated, high-capacity, photometric analyzer developed for food, beverage, water and soil testing. It allows for simultaneous analysis of several parameters from one sample and real-time reagent monitoring and automated dilutions. It performs highly specific colorimetric, enzymatic and electrochemical measurements, accelerates analysis throughput and provides for quality control. It is critical that Fermentation Science degree program students have access to this up-to-date analytical equipment used across the fermentation-utilization industry before they complete their degrees and enter the workforce. Additionally, a fertilizer injector is needed to replace the recently broken injector in the greenhouse. The equipment requested will directly impact all courses utilizing the greenhouses, the food science courses; AGBS 4830, 4830, 4850, and fermentation science courses; FERM 3700, 3710, 4550, 4560, and 4570 and indirectly impacts the current ~23,000 MTSU students and thousands of customers who purchase MTSU produced products.
