The Department of Sociology and Anthropology has need of a classroom in which students may interact with remote guest lecturers. Our current Master Classrooms are equipped to allow remote speakers to address a class using software like Skype for Business but they do not provide a means for students to meaningfully interact with the remote guest. This proposal requests funds to purchase and install cameras and microphones that will allow students to be seen and heard by a remote guest, thus allowing more meaningful interaction. The classroom would be available to all faculty on an exchange basis. That is, if a faculty member needs access to the room, they will exchange classrooms with the instructor currently scheduled in the room with the new equipment, thus making the room available to all instructors and potentially 1800-2000 sociology and anthropology students per semester.
