1. Basic testing equipment for the Power Lab (VET 170A). Each semester, the Power Lab is used for four senior level classes and other student projects in both graduate and under graduate levels. There are nine work stations in the lab and each station has a set of basic testing equipment that includes 5 items: one power supply, one oscilloscope, one function generator, and two multi-meters. Those current items in the lab were 15 – 20 years old and many of them don’t function well. This proposal requests $27,000 from TAF for purchasing 9 sets of the basic testing equipment. That is $3,000 per station for the 5 items. The new basic testing equipment is essential for keeping all the working station operate to serve the needs of the classes involved. 2. The MTSU Mechatronics Engineering program strives to develop creative, innovative engineers through challenging student projects. One facet of this study is applying rapid-prototyping technologies, such as 3-D printing, in the design and engineering of these projects. Explosive growth in this program has resulted in greater need for 3-D printer support. The addition of a Maker Gear M3SE 3D printer in each of our two Mechatronics Development Labs will greatly assist these students in creating engineering prototypes for their senior capstone project. Educational Bundle quote for (2) M3SE Single Extruder Printers: $5300.00
