Peck Hall 207/208 currently houses office space, but future plans have the staff now occupying those offices moving to another Peck Hall location on the first floor of the building, hopefully in the latter part of 2019. After the current occupants have moved out we would like to make some changes to the two spaces which would allow for a “new” master classroom designed to accommodate up to 40 students. This would require the removal of the wall between the two spaces from its current location so that the square footage in 207 would be increased and the master classroom placed in that space. As 208 would be made smaller by the relocation of the wall, we hope to acquire separate funding and make that space into a seminar room, with appropriate large table and seating for that purpose. The College of Liberal Arts has 93 assigned rooms (including Hinton Hall and Tucker Theatre), with 85 of those being conventional classrooms. Out of those rooms, only nine will accommodate 40 or more students, and this is for a College that produces 30% of the University’s total SCH and 50% of the University’s GenEd SCH. 72% of CLA’s classrooms hold 30 or fewer students, with 40% accommodating 20 or fewer. Adding a CLA classroom that will accommodate up to 40 students would enhance our ability to meet anticipated increased student demand.
