The Margaret H. Ordoubadian University Writing Center (UWC) supports writing and communication in innovative ways as we concurrently cultivate an engaged learning experience for writing tutors. Peer tutors conduct over 5,000 one to one tutoring sessions each year, both in person and online. In addition, the UWC facilitates writing workshops for students and faculty on writing strategies, reaching over 600 students per academic year. In order to best serve students writing in multiple modes--including digital writing, MT Engage ePortfolios, research posters, and Powerpoint presentations--we are requesting funding for an interactive, mobile display with slot-in PC and trolley stand. Students will be able to view their digital projects at scale as they work with tutors on design choices, rhetorical decisions, and organization of ideas. In addition to using this technology in one to one tutoring sessions, UWC administrators will also make use of this display 1. when facilitating writing workshops, 2. during our fall and spring tutor orientations, and 3. during our weekly, ongoing tutor education programming. This interactive screen display will not only support students who already frequent the UWC, but will also allow us to serve more students who are working on digital writing, research, and presentation projects for any class and in any discipline.
