The Department of Economics and Finance has completed a major curriculum overhaul that will require students to do financial analysis and data modeling using computers in the classroom. This change was driven by the input of our industry advisory board about what knowledge and skills our employers are seeking in our students. Department faculty are excited to implement these changes in their courses and are requesting substantially more time in a classroom with installed student workstations. Currently ECFN has only shared priority access (with MKT) to a small classroom (26 seats) with installed student workstations. Our curricular changes necessitate a classroom with 40 installed student workstations to accommodate the student demand for FIN 3810, FIN 3910, FIN 3950, FIN 4015, and ECON 4620. This TAF request is to convert BAS S324 to a Master Classroom with computer stations for forty (40) students. The computers will be loaded with required data analysis software and will serve over 300 students annually. This classroom was chosen because it has the space and much of the needed electrical work currently to enable the addition of a large computer classroom on campus within a reasonable budget.
