This is a master classroom proposal for Bragg 180, a heavily-scheduled Recording Industry room which is used all day, every day for Recording Industry and Master of Fine Arts classes in the College of Media and Entertainment. The room has not received any significant renovations or upgrades to its design or finishings since original construction in 1991. The room lacks standard, flexible video and audio switching and presentation technology for routing instruction. Also, the room is in physically poor condition, with worn carpet, wall treatments, and sub-optimal lighting. The typical semester schedule for the room is: RIM 4440 (3-4 sections), RIM 4600 (2-3 sections), MRAT 6110 (1 section), RIM 4330 (2-3 sections), MRAT 6145 (1 section), RIM 4335 (1 section). Additionally (regarding the 4 Dell computers), our facilities maintenance team depends on two mission-critical test and diagnostic systems to ensure 24x7 operations in our multitrack studios for both classroom instruction and student audio production sessions. The heart of the two current diagnostic systems are outdated computers which haven't been replaced in over a decade, and require refreshment to preclude failure as well as keep pace with the latest versions of Windows and diagnostic software. Finally, our live entertainment discipline has expanded to include more remote engineering projects and assignments for students which require an increase in our inventory of checkout mobile computers.
