In order to facilitate the growth of the entrepreneurial community across MTSU, equipment is requested for student use of an approved Entrepreneurship Center. This Center will be housed in a 1,500 sq ft space in the MEC, and will serve students campus wide. This will be done through one-on-one consultation, classes, seminars, and research. The center will focus on helping students prepare to become entrepreneurs, regardless of their major. The initial impact of the center will be focused on key schools within MTSU, and we anticipate that approx. 135 students will be served in the first year, with engagement continuing to grow across campus through awareness and the expansion of service offerings to students. The two requested smart screens will be used for one-on-one private consultation with students, and in an open collaborative space for student interaction. Both smart screens will need connections for presentation capabilities, as well as video conferencing systems for remote consultation/presentations. Student research will be a vital part of the Center, with four student workstations requested, equipped with computer, dual monitors, and printer. A copier/printer is requested to provide materials to students as needed. Additionally, we are requesting entrepreneurial specific licenses and databases to help prepare students to create their business plans and enter the business world. These include LivePlan (a business plan builder) and The Startup Game (a live simulation of a startup), IBIS Industry Reports, and Bizminer Industry Financial Data.
