Music requests TAF funding for the installation of one state-of-the art, virtual acoustic technology practice room (VAE Room) adjacent to the existing 110 practice room on the first floor of SFA. VAE Rooms provide different ambient environments for study (i.e. simulate a concert hall) and include built-in student recording and playback functions to enhance study and is downloadable to laptops. Because of studio growth, percussion majors/minors were granted exclusive rights to one of our general-purpose practice rooms to practice a housed keyboard instrument. This diminished our general-purpose practice rooms by one. This new room would benefit approximately 300 undergraduate music majors, 25 graduate students, 70 music minors, and 100 music industry minors in the fall of 2019. Information on the VAE room is found at https://www.wengercorp.com/sound-isolation/virtual-acoustic-environment-technology.php Additionally, the School of Music has been unable to afford a contrabass clarinet which is needed by large ensembles for various works of music that write for this instrument. The MTSU Wind Ensemble, MTSU Symphonic Band and the MTSU Symphony Orchestra would benefit greatly from having this instrument. Thank you for your consideration!
