We are requesting funds for new technology to transform the BAS N428 into an innovative learning space for students. This room serves as an Accounting tutoring space for our majors, as well as students from other disciplines across campus. Accounting is a required course in the business core as well as Concrete Management, Fashion Merchandising, Recording Industry, Aerospace, Physics, Computer Science, Fermentation Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, etc. The Jones College plans to pay for construction costs, such as removal of the bookcases, paint and patch the walls, and install new flooring. In addition, an outside donor has agreed to purchase $10,000 of furniture for the room. No upgrades have been done in this room since its inception in 1997. We staff the room with Graduate Assistant tutors 28 hours per week; the room remains open to students the rest of the time. In the Fall semester, 214 students sought help from the tutoring lab, potentially 2,690 undergraduate students and 74 graduate students could use this lab, many repeatedly. The technology in this room will help students prepare to be successful within their individual study programs.
