Additional capacity for computer classroom space is needed for course offerings, particularly for supply chain management courses. Currently, about 230 – 250 students take MGMT 3620 (Supply Chain Operations) in a computer classroom each fall and spring semester. This is a required course for management majors, business administration majors, entrepreneurship majors, and information systems majors. The management major (171 majors), business administration major (685 majors), and entrepreneurship major (91 majors) also offer one or two courses that need to be in a computer classroom. The one computer classroom that the department has available is not adequate to meet demand. The department also offers a major in management with a concentration in supply chain (SCM) that requires computer classroom space for classes. This SCM concentration in the management degree currently has 86 majors (up from 35 majors in fall 2018). This increasing demand for SCM courses increases the need for computer classroom space since these students take 5 - 6 courses that need to be taught in a computer classroom. Expectations are that the SCM concentration will continue to increase in students due to a high school pathway in SCM and the large number of SCM companies in the Nasvhille area. This request is for 36 laptop computers and a laptop charging station to be placed in BAS S332. The addition of computers will allow this regular classroom to be scheduled with supply chain management courses and having these computers will allow faculty to use applied learning activities that are available on computers to meet the course objectives and to prepare students for professional work in SCM.
