This TAF Discipline Specific request will support the completion of two replacement recording studios for the Department of Recording Industry. Studios D & E were located in Ezell Hall and are being relocated to the rear of the 1403 E. Main St. Ezell and Abernathy Halls are being razed to make room for the new Concrete Industry Management and future ETIS buildings. Over 40% of the budget in this request will provide the needed infrastructure and equipment for the required instructional technology and IT that was not funded in the capital project that is building the studios. (We were not invited to participate when the initial capital project budget was developed.) Other items are needed to support instruction and student production the larger and more capable studios. A few items are included for instructional enhancements the replacement studios will afford. These recording studios will support core and elective instruction in four undergraduate Audio Production courses and six graduate MFA courses, included required courses at both levels, as well as the Final Project practicums required of all MFA students. Accordingly, up 120 undergraduate and 42 graduate students will be impacted by the use of these studios each semester. Including summer instruction and projects, these studios will serve nearly 350 students per year. Once these studios are complete, the majority of their future support will come from departmental budgets and college course fees.
