BAS S337 is unique among the classrooms in the Business and Aerospace Building as the home of the only business Ph.D. program (in Economics). This classroom typically holds our 16 Ph.D. courses each year and others placed by the automatic scheduler from across the university. Like all classrooms in BAS, it is ADA compliant, but the technology and furniture in the room are original to the construction of the building, which is now 24 years old. The room is in need of upgrades in general., and we have a new Ph.D. student in Economics who uses a wheelchair. I am proposing this master classroom upgrade with added features to make this new student's experience more ADA friendly. Please note that our Ph.D. students stay in the program for four to five years before graduating, and they teach several sections once academically qualified for instruction. If this classroom is approved for a master classroom upgrade, it will give our Ph.D. student in a wheelchair a better experience in his final coursework and when he teaches courses himself. Because the Department of Economics and Finance has room priority in BAS S337, we can ensure that this Ph.D. student with ADA needs instructs his ECON courses in the upgraded classroom with the most ADA friendly features.
