Replacement of Existing Technology

The quality of the picture poor on the TVs and the VCR does not work properly. The current computer cannot support newer versions of windows and some needed software used by instructors. A projector is needed so traditional classes can be held in the room without disturbing the ability to connect for video conferencing classes. TV monitors are needed so students and faculty from remote sites can communicate with each other and see items the instructor places on the visual presenter and computer.

Replace master classroom equipment (TV monitors, VCR, visual presenter, and PC) in the video conferencing classroom BAS S273 and add a projector/screen to the classroom. This classroom is used for video conferencing classes and some regular classes. Typically, 2-4 video conferencing classes are offered in the room each semester. Beginning in fall 2000, 4-8 traditional classes were scheduled in the room to try to assist with classroom shortages, but faculty teaching traditional classes in the room have difficulty using the technology in its current configuration. The classroom can be used even more fully by faculty if the technology is upgraded and a projector/screen is added to the classroom so faculty will not have to know how to use the video conferencing technology when teaching a regular class. In addition, on many days, video conferencing faculty find that the technology is not useable for their classes because someone teaching a regular class has mistakenly re-configured the system or turned off some needed part of the technology.
